Where to sleep during your stay in Egypt?
Famous for its pyramids of Giza and its pharaohs, Egypt was the place where my honeymoon fell. My wife has always dreamed of taking a trip to the land of the Nile to recharge in history. Here is the idyllic account of our stay at the heart of Egyptian accommodations.
The preparation of our honeymoon in Egypt
Usually celebrated for its wonderful pyramids, I assure you that Egypt has much more to offer to brighten your spirits. At least, that’s what comes from my sensational honeymoon spent in the Egyptian desert. And to enjoy every second, it’s best to prepare your stay in Egypt starting with the visa. Moreover, for a tourist stay, the Egypt visa is mandatory. You can obtain it directly from an Egyptian consulate. However, applying for the Egypt e-visa online is quicker. In any case, this was the option my wife and I chose given the short preparation time. Next, we prepared our passports and had our medical check-ups and vaccinations.
To make the most of every moment of this lovers’ getaway, I decided to start booking hotels online. Even our car was rented directly online in Cairo, the Egyptian capital.
Welcome to Le Méridien Cairo Airport
As soon as we landed at Cairo airport, we directly dragged our suitcases to the hotel, Le Méridien Cairo Airport. This airport hotel boasts an exceptionally luxurious setting. The rooms are quite spacious and well-lit with industrial-style decor. It had everything to experience the best wedding night. It was room 201 on the 10th floor that welcomed us. It featured exceptional art paintings with very imposing Indian-style furnishings. The showers were so spacious that five of us could fit in. Additionally, this room offered us a magnificent view of the city of Cairo. We could see the peaks of the great Al-Azhar Mosque and the Muslim faithful rushing there in the evening. The welcome was truly warm with extremely jovial servers.
After settling in, we were invited to taste Koshary, the best local tea, with some treats. That was already more than enough to satisfy our appetite. We decided to explore the area by taking a trip to the hotel’s large pool. We spent most of our evening there discussing our next program in the heart of the city.
Longchamps Hotel in Zamalek : A visit to the Pyramids of Giza
After a torrid night at Le Méridien Cairo Airport as lovers, we headed to Zamalek. This exceptional neighborhood is highly regarded by tourists for its comfort and safety. It is an ultra-modern area with large galleries, beautiful residential cities, and pleasant green gardens. One could easily distinguish a great vibrancy in the heart of the city. Besides, we were there to take a trip to Giza to discover the pyramids and their history in real-time.
In the heart of this neighborhood, there were all kinds of accommodations with quite surprising luxury. It is the city of Egyptian lodges, very luxurious accommodations with top-class services. These lodgings are entirely built from recyclable local materials with rooms that have a heavenly appearance. These lodges blend perfectly into the environment due to their very authentic character. It was indeed at the Longchamps lodge in Zamalek that we laid our suitcases upon arrival. Frankly, it must be admitted that this neighborhood, though luxurious, has preserved traces of antiquity.
Between Souk Kan Khalili, the Islamic quarter, and Giza, the antique adventure was unforgettable. We spent more than 48 hours drifting through the history of ancient Egypt and contemporary realities. We didn’t miss squatting in restaurants along the Nile and the sports fields of Zamalek. The stay was simply idyllic in the heart of this city with upscale accommodations. In any case, we did not regret a single moment the cost of the Egypt visa.
A cruise on the Nile : the boat stay
It was unthinkable, even inconceivable for my wife and I, to visit Egypt without taking a boat trip on the Nile. Well, we kept our promise. During our stay in Zamalek, we opted for a boat cruise to enjoy this natural wonder. We had a sightseeing visit on the Nile with our guide, Markus, a very dynamic and cultured man. He introduced us to the Nile and the various activities it hosts. We spent three full days there, rich in emotions and discoveries. With other tourists, we spent evenings admiring the city lights. We slept in very comfortable cabins, slightly decorated in a Scandinavian style.
To finish, during this sensational lovers’ stay, we chose the option of camping in the desert. The moments of camaraderie with other travelers were very pleasant. Between the arduous walk in the sand dunes and the camel rides, happiness was at the rendezvous.
